Travelodge, Wimbledon

Project description

Mountford Pigott was appointed by Reef Estates to develop a sustainable design for construction and to provide delivery stage services to the Main Contractor Barnes Construction.

The development is located on a constrained central Wimbledon site and the design focuses on sustainability and energy conservation to achieve net-zero emissions.  The accommodation comprises a 177-bedroom budget luxe hotel with a 116-cover restaurant/bar over two ground floor double-storey commercial units.

Sustainability measures include; low-energy lighting; motion sensing controls; aerated showers and taps; air source heat pumps designed to maximise efficiency in the heating and cooling system; and a blue/green roof which provide a habitat to encourage biodiversity and assists with rainwater attenuation as part of the SuDS.  The development achieves a BREEAM “Excellent” standard and an Energy Performance Certificate “A” rating.  The sustainability achievements of the development contribute towards meeting the project team’s zero-carbon and ESG goals.
