New Elm Road, Manchester
Project description
This 8,500m², 6-storey building has been designed with simple forms and clear straight lines emphasising the industrial character of the area while expressing the interplay of two rectilinear boxes.
The lower form has a solid concrete appearance with relief created by a splayed inset wall towards the vehicular entrance. This feature assists building users with intuitive wayfinding. The upper form is clad in Corten steel and while it retains the same orientation as the lower section it is offset so as to create a dynamic composition.
