CT Scanner, Royal Brompton Hospital

Project description

Mountford Pigott was appointed by RBHT to provide design & delivery stage architectural services in connection with the replacement of the CT scanner. The project included essential fire precautions, remedial work following the removal of asbestos and the replacement of the CT Scanner in the Fulham Road Wing. Programme was very sensitive and MPLLP worked closely with the Trust, Siemens and consultants to achieve the most efficient programme possible.

The design and delivery teams overcame a variety of challenges during construction including the unexpected discovery of asbestos; lifts that were smaller than the scanner and a giant sink hole opening up in Dove Street in front of the door through which the scanner was due to be transported into the building. Through excellent teamwork the project was completed within programme to enable the imaging service for Londoners to be resumed at the hospital in accordance with the original schedule.
