Silvermere Care Home, Cobham

Project description

Mountford Pigott was appointed to obtain planning approval to relocate Cobham Bus Museum from its site adjacent to the Silvermere Golf Course to Brooklands Museum and to secure a planning approval to develop the site as a care home. This was challenging from a planning perspective since the site is in the green belt and the existing hangar bore no resemblance to the spatial requirements of a care home.

The new home for the bus museum is adjacent to the Scheduled Monument and several listed structures as well as being part of the setting for two significant listed buildings (the Club House and the Wellington Hangar) Mountford Pigott successfully delivered the two planning approvals.

The 72-bedroom care home was originally designed for Barchester Healthcare but was subsequently delivered by Avery Healthcare.
