David R. Scanlon Dip Arch Tech

Partner

David joined Mountford Pigott in 1995 to strengthen the project delivery team. He became an associate in 1997 and was invited to join the Partnership two years later in 1999. During this time he has been responsible with his partners for modernising and expanding the business to the dynamic architectural practice it is today.

David has extensive experience working with clients, both corporate and individual, to define briefs that fulfil client’s aspirations. These provide solid foundations for the development of great schemes and long-term relationships between clients and Mountford Pigott. His skills include the assembly and leadership of teams to ensure scheme delivery which meet and surpass clients’ expectations.

David’s outstanding communication skills and analytical approach coupled with his depth of experience make him a persuasive negotiator as well as an inspirational leader for design teams. He has provided expert witness evidence at several Public Inquiries and is often involved in contractual negotiations and value engineering exercises with contractors.

David has been responsible for the design and delivery of many projects ranging from industrial, commercial, retail and automotive facilities to hotels, leisure buildings and residential schemes varying in scale. His experience includes all stages of project design and delivery from initial feasibility design, masterplanning, planning negotiations through to detailed technical design, contract procurement, contract administration and completion on site.

Recent projects have included a nationwide development programme for national self-storage brand Big Yellow; a number of large manufacturer backed motor dealership/brand centres as well as the delivery of a number of commercial, leisure and hotel schemes.

“I love acting as the fulcrum between the various stakeholders and my in-house design team. Mountford Pigott is small enough that the Partners – with their wealth of experience – get involved in all projects early on and remain involved throughout the design and delivery process. We approach each project on its own merits and each design decision taken or material chosen is done so with a thorough understanding of the client’s objectives and budget.”
