Planning Permission for New Self-Storage Facility in Leamington Spa

Mountford Pigott is pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for the redevelopment of the former Aldi site on Queensway, Leamington Spa.

The approved scheme will deliver over 7,500m² of high-quality, secure, and flexible self-storage space across three storeys. Purpose-built to serve the needs of local residents, start-ups, and small businesses, the new facility has been carefully designed to integrate seamlessly with its surroundings while supporting the local economy.

The self-storage use will significantly reduce traffic movements to the site —by approximately 90%—compared to the former supermarket, resulting in a quieter and more sustainable environment for the community.

The design includes the retention of existing landscaping, with the addition of new, high-quality soft landscaping along Queensway and the boundary with the existing car park. The front elevation of the building will introduce active frontage facing Queensway, comprising glazing, brickwork and vertical slats and will greatly improve the street scene. A prominent green wall on the south-east elevation will further contribute to the site’s environmental and aesthetic value.

Construction is expected to commence in early 2026.
