Part of the landholding included the awkwardly shaped South Quay, consisting of listed structures in a conservation area, and part of a World Heritage Site, close to the Foundry Town Centre. We were appointed through recommendation to continue in the design development of this area of land for a 3,600 sqm sales foodstore, additional retail restaurants and residential, leading up to the submission of a planning application. The development brief required the design to ensure that any of the major food retailers would accept the design and consent with limited amendments, and that the layout and appearance would stand the test of English Heritage and CABE.
