Mountford Pigott was originally appointed to review the design and layout of British Land`s retail park at the Beehive Centre, Cambridge in 2007, which was one of the poorest performing assets in their portfolio.
The major asset management exercise subsequently carried out has completely transformed both the appearance and performance of the park, which was shortlisted for Best Retail Development by BCSC in 2010.
The unusual configuration of the site meant that the units at the front of the scheme and the existing ASDA foodstore traded strongly. However, the units at the back of the site had poor visibility and little prominence and accordingly traded quite poorly.
The design work centred on providing a continuous fully glazed shop front zone and major new signage features to raise the height and prominence of the retailer branding.
The new scheme has attracted a host of new lettings including M & S, Next Home, DW Sports, Costa Coffee & Subway.
