The development will seek to achieve a BREEAM target of “Excellent”.

Planning approval has been granted for the redevelopment of the Jaguar Land Rover site at 270 Old Shoreham Road, Hove.

This mixed-use scheme comprises a 3,153m² Big Yellow Self Storage unit as well as 688m² of flexi-offices over 3 storeys which provide active frontage along Old Shoreham Road. The surrounding urban context is fine grain residential and in order to address this the principal elevation has been broken down into small modules, creating a rhythm akin to terraced housing. The proposed materials for the scheme reflect those observed in the surrounding streetscape but will be used with contemporary detailing.

The development’s proximity to nearby residential properties to the rear of the site was taken into consideration in the design and a bespoke soft landscaping scheme including vertical green screening is an intrinsic part of the approved scheme.

The proposals will not only contribute to the local economy and the street scene, but will also enrich the local environment and enhance biodiversity with the introduction of further greening along the Old Shoreham Road frontage and a green roof. The development will seek to achieve a BREEAM target of “Excellent”.
